Mute IV - Antithesis by vrupatel Mute IV - Antithesis by vrupatel
Bring back the monsters from the past just for the wondrous occasion of hallow's eve and weekend. This marks roughly marks one year since I started shooting, then editing and brought an idea from the paper to fruition.

Also wanted to take the opportunity to sincerely thank all of my friends who've supported me through this adventure. Hopefully i shall continue to bring weird creatures from my mind to life and to your screens.

And, a special thank you to the model for putting up with this nonsense, thank you for being patient, suggestive and brilliantly cooperative, without you all this would not be possible.

Cheerio!
Vru

you thrive on contrast dont you...not just the themes....but also most of your monochromes...i really like this artwork....the wrinkles over the nose and forehead grab my attention but cause of the high contrast the left side of her face is really blacked out to an extent that all features are hidden....personally id like to look at a little more features fading into darkness...

but it really is your picture...and its your composition....and it really is wonderful :)

I feel safe with black and white, knowing that the concept and message im trying to convey will get there. Color always seems to be a distraction and its too difficult to control, especially for someone who doesn't shoot inside a studio, and I dislike not having that control. And, yeah mate i love contrast ahaha. I hate to self promote so shamelessly, but if detail is what you're after then look at the Mute series, you might enjoy that.

Ahaha Fair point mate. I like to enjoy other conversation in getting to know people better, im not here just for my art, but to look at others and learn a thing or two. And i don't wanna be monotonic and keep pushing people towards my work. If they're attracted to it, they will look at it. Simple as. lol

Incredible! I don't know if this was your intention, but the first thing I thought of when I saw this was racism. Very impactful, great work. :)

Racism, suppression, identity, and various other surrealistic ideas, some of which i prefer to not utter here hehe. But thank you, im glad you liked it and that you took the effort to see beyond the 'creepyscaryness'.

Random favorite of the day on my twitter :)

Awesome photo, just too bad the focus seems to be on her nose rather then her eyes :p

And Thank you sir! I am quite flattered for being featured, I've put up a link to your twitter feed for random favorites, including mine. If you object, please let me know and i shall take it down.

lolols. Not today. Though I did get some thanks you's from the artists I informed and one said she had a lot of theft lately. Many of the artists said it was not the first time. And it forced some of them to add the DA watermark at least. I do not like having to watermark. I know some people yell and complain about watermarks, but I cannot blame artists for protecting their hard work. I'm inconsistent with watermarking my stuff.

I hate hate hate watermarks with a passion, even the dingy little text. Though, very rarely im forced to put them somewhere on the image and most of my images have metadata attached to the file for google keywords, so if someone steals and makes a million dollars i can prove that its stolen hehe. But lets be realistic that is never going to happen.

Apart from that a lesson my grandma once taught me comes to mind. Knowledge can never be stolen, the theif may steal your work, and your money, but he won't ever have the ability to progress, or come up with it again. And you can lose it all and still find your way back to inventing something new again. Much too long for a fortune cookie but she's right, let them steal, i don't care. So i don't bother putting it anymore.

Aw, your grandma is a sage woman. My bf thinks you should not put anything on the internet if you're worried about people stealing it. I'm really not so worried about people stealing, though it would make me feel bad if they did. Most the times, if someone just asks, I think I would say it was okay. Or maybe I'd want to do something special collaboration or something.

I had someone steal and modify my art to make an avatar here once. I had gone to thank them for a favorite and was shocked to see a cropped piece of my art that was made negative, but still recognizeable to me. The manip made it obvious they were trying to hide it was mine, and the crop was such a small piece of the original art. My heart raced and I asked her nicely to take it down, and if she wants an avatar from me to ask. She took it down and apologized. I was more worried she would lash out at me or something. Some people get very nasty and defensive about that sort of thing.

If I were a thief, I'd definitely steal your art and make a million dollars ;D Then split the money with ya so you don't sue me! Deal?

Hahaha so far, i have not caught any one stealing my work exactly. I do often notice the theft of ideas and concepts but that is so vague that I don't have a will to bother with it, despite of the evidence like dates and such.

And yes, i don't mind splitting a million dollars, a half a mil is plenty for me. I would like invest in some huge stock and make more money so i can buy the best cameras and best music equipment. And a new computer fo sho, this macbewk is 4 years old and is falling apart. I can't work on an image 2000 x 2000 without it taking forever, pisses me off at times.

yikes, then half a mill should help! :XD: I'd use my half to build my TARDIS interior styled gallery/studio making every Doctor Who fan jealous whilst my bf rolls his eyes.

Hahaha a vigilante needs a secrete hide out anyways, sounds perfect, make sure to add a bit of batcave and star trek to it as well and now you've made 95% of the nerds jealous in one fell swoop.
