Well, it doesn't have to be an iPhone, however what is the one thing i will always have on me when i see something worthy of shooting, and what is something super convenient to carry, that is also connected to the internet and is almost like a personal computer where upon you can do your post production directly on the device.

Whatever comes to mind, is essentially changed photography forever.

Though personally, I think the iPhone is the best when it comes to the latest forms of compact photography, hands down.
